Why 2mm?I was initially introduced to the concept of "2mm" when I came across Mark Fielder's website on British Nn3 narrow gauge many years ago when I had just started to get back into my modelling. It struck a cord with me as I had never really liked the look of British N Gauge track and wheels so after a short deliberation (with myself!) I wound up joining The 2mm Scale Association with the intention of trying to convert rolling stock and locos, and building my own trackwork. Unfortunately I never really did much although I did purchase several kits, some track parts and other bits and pieces. However, several years ago I was invited to join a local area group of like minded N Gauge and 2mm modellers. This proved to be just the thing to motivate me and develop my skills, not to mention meeting some great friends. It is worth noting that my 2mm modelling efforts are mainly confined to track work, wheels and chassis' as I am largely using N Gauge rolling stock which is to a scale of 1:148, so not a pure 2mm modeller. I am very happy with this arrangement as I certainly don't have the skills to build loco's and other items to a satisfactory standard, at least not at the moment. To date I haven't accomplished a lot of work in 2mm, in fact what I have started I haven't yet finished. I must finish some of my UFOs! Layouts Rolling Stock Track |
